Trick-or-Treating in the Rain

Well, a first for the kids…a rainy Halloween.  Chris and I remember some crazy weather days when we were younger.  Living in Illinois means dealing with every kind of weather and not letting it slow you down.  So, we changed costumes to better deal with the rain.  Abby wore a short witch costume with a hat instead of the long, pretty Cinderella costume.  We decided to dress Brooke in a duck costume because it was warmer than the Minnie dress.

We met up with our good friends with whom we trick or treat every year.  The kids really love these girls and just have a great time with them!

We had hoped that the rain would go away, but it was a pretty steady rain.  The adults all had umbrellas, and I tried to make the kids use one.  Yeah right!  At least the boys had something covering their heads.  Poor Abs wouldn't wear her witch hat or use an umbrella.

Nothing slowed these kids down!  We did our usual route, skipping a couple places and hurried back home because Brooke was wet despite our best efforts to keep her dry.

As soon as we got in, the kids took a nice hot shower and were ready for handing out candy.  They had as much fun doing this as getting candy!

Of course, Daddy got in on the fun and surprised them at the front door.  Silly guy!

I cannot believe how much candy is in this house!  Thankfully, our local school is taking non chocolate candies for the troops.  Woo hoo!
