We attended the yearly NICU reunion picnic this Sunday. We look forward to this event every year as we get to tell the kids the story of their birth and about their NICU stay. I love how they say, "This is far away". Kids, we drove this way every day for over a month. Not to mention Daddy visited me in the hospital almost daily for 3 weeks!!!
The picnic is held at Northwestern's Ryan Field parking lot, which is just up the street from their hospital. They do a nice job of putting the event together each year. The fire department visits and lets the kids tour the truck, along with bounce houses, little train rides, snacks, and mini golf.
The kids absolutely loved the train ride, so much so that we went twice.
We really had to "talk up" the fire truck for them to even go near. I would have thought this was the coolest thing ever as a child!!! The firemen were super nice and let everyone go in the truck for pics. The one firemen handed Chris the hat thinking that all dads would think this is the greatest job. Little did he know that Chris has the coolest job ;)
Not surprising was that the kids enjoyed the bounce houses. Brooke was right there with her siblings. She was climbing the wall like a little monkey! I just can't believe how big she is getting!
Afterwards, we went to lunch and then to the pool with our good friends. Geez, these kids do nothing during the summer ;)
