Sunday Funday

Wow! What a busy day we had. First, Dee Dee came over for an hour long speech therapy session. Meanwhile, Chris went to his Dad's house to help stack wood from an enormous tree.
We met them over at his grandma's house around 12:30pm.

Did I mention that Great Grandma has the coolest pool around? The kids were a bit timid at first. We totally expected this since it's been a year that they swam.

They were totally fine to just sit on the first step and splash their feet while watching Daddy swim.
Uncle Ryan got the kids some life vests for the boat/jet skis and we tried them in the pool. Josh was the first one willing to go in with Daddy.

Meanwhile, Abby didn't even want to put on her vest and was content pushing around the beach ball that she deemed hers.

Daddy dropped Josh off on a little perch. He was so excited that he could stand in the pool!

Soon Josh was running round and round and jumping into Daddy's arms!

Jack finally joined Josh in the pool, but only for a little while. He enjoyed just sitting in a chair and watching everyone.

Finally Miss Abby went into the pool with Daddy. She liked it and I had to force her to wear a vest.
She then wanted to jump into my arms just like Josh. It took her a while to actually jump!
After swimming, we headed next door to Grandpa's house where he grilled us some brats and hotdogs. Absolutely loving the view!

They sure worked up an appetite from all that swimming! This was the first time they had their own hot dog in a bun. (Usually we just cut into tiny pieces without a bun)

I honestly could not believe that Josh had finished the whole thing and wanted more. Jacky finished his, too.

Can you guess whose this is? Yeah, she obviously needed to swim more ;)

We then took a ride in the golf cart with Grandpa. They have so much land and are right on the river. The kids took turns "driving".

Our goal was to leave there and not have the kids sleep during the drive. They didn't take a nap all day and 4pm was not a good time to do so. We had to stop at home to drop off Chris's car and then we headed to my parents house where they were hosting a small BBQ with some aunts and uncles. The kids did snooze for about 15 minutes while driving.

And what happened when we arrived at Grandma & Grandpa's house? Grandma gave the kids more food!

Abs was trying to feed Grandpa. She seems to do a lot of that instead of eating the food herself!

We stayed there for a while and had a yummy meal. My aunts were talking about how the kids are all grown up and need less supervision. I told them to come over when there was an argument over a toy!

All in all we had quite a busy day, but the kids handled it so well. There were no fights or meltdowns, so I consider that a success!

  1. A definite success! You're lucky to have family with a beautiful pool!

And funny about the hotdogs - our kids have yet to have them in an actual bun too.

  2. I am SO jealous of the GREEN grass!! The swimming looks like a blast! My kids have recently started swimming for the summer again too and they, like yours have very different reactions and opinions of the water! :)
