Hometown Parade

Chris and I both grew up in Palatine and we love the family tradition of going to the parade. This was the kids' 3rd year and this time they were prepared with their own bags.

We sat in the same place as last year, thanks to the Edwards family! We had shade on our side, and boy did we need it! This was the stickiest, yuckiest day of the summer, thus far. Before the parade even started, the ice-cream truck came by. I'm betting he was awfully busy this day!The kids did well for the beginning of the parade, which consisted of all the fire trucks and their loud sirens. They were ready for the candy!

At one point, Josh just gave up on getting any candy and went to sit by Daddy. You can tell how hot it was just by looking at Jacky's sweaty head.

Soon everyone was taking a break and going through their candy and eating it already.

After the parade ended, we went to the carnival grounds to walk around and talk to some friends. It was just so unbearable that we came home. Grandma came by and the kids were glad to play in the water and have popsicles.
